Look to Me

Don’t turn to puny man for his answers.
Man is frail, changeable and unreliable.

No matter how hard he tries, he can disappoint and let you down.
He can fall short and leave you stranded on the ground.

Look to me the one and only true God.

I am the Alfa and the Omega
I am the Truth and the Light
I am the Master Counselor
I am the Compassionate
I am the Unchangeable
I am the Trustworthy
I am the Omnipotent
I am the Merciful

Look to me for all your answers.

Don’t confuse man’s good intentions with the truth.
Don’t confuse man’s advice with heavenly counsel.
Don’t confuse man’s opinion with my direction.
Don’t confuse man’s insinuation with my approval.
Don’t confuse man’s teaching with my wisdom.

Look to me, fix your eyes on me, even when the path looks real dark.
Always look to me not man, I secure your step.

Trust me child, walk in faith, for it is I who leads your way.
It is always I, who makes things for you as clear as day.

A Service to Remember

God gave us a beautiful reminder that He is in control of everything. No matter what happens, He can turn it into something that honors Him. We had a guest speaker planned for this week who became ill and was hospitalized (Thomas needs continued prayer for healing). Michael had been preparing a teaching for next month, but felt he could give it on Sunday. However, on Sunday morning he woke up with the full effects of the flu he had had for a couple of days, so we knew that he would have to stay home.
The leadership team prayed and talked and felt that we should not have a teaching at all, but that this would be a Sunday for the whole church to participate. God has been touching lives through prayer and worship and this would be the opportunity for everyone to give glory to His hand in their lives.
Our missionaries in Guanacaste were with us this weekend, so we started off with worship songs with plenty of percussion for Diego to use the bongos with gusto! As we started to share what God has been doing in our lives, we heard a poem about looking to God, reminding us of Psalm 1, and we heard about encouraging words like “fear not, for I AM with you”. We heard about times when we don’t seem to be hearing God “like we used to” and how we need to be willing to walk in what we know, even though we have no “sensing” to go with the steps. We heard about God speaking through impressions and about the fear to move from our comfort zone by following those impressions. God was calling us to joyfully follow Him, encouraging us to obey Him – simply obey Him.
The children did drawings, obviously inspired by the Holy Spirit, of whom God was, and where He was: a house, a castle, a knight in armor, a chair… chaos – He is there too! The young boy who drew the armor had a word for someone in the congregation. This young visitor knew right away that it was for her and we brought her forward to pray for her when she told us. The chair was drawn by a child who said that the chair meant peace. Her parents encourage her to sit quietly in a chair when she is having a tantrum or a struggle – and she finds peace there, with God!
We prayed for one another and for others, we sang worship songs and we quietly listened to God as He encouraged us. We sought to joyfully follow Him as He leads us out of the storm clouds, and with grateful hearts we closed by singing the beautiful Scripture from Numbers: “The lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace”

Your Point of View

Oh Father God, all I want, is to know I’m on the path to you.
Please let me see all things from your point of view.

All things now, together we will do.
The old has passed, you have made for me, all things new!

You fed me milk then solid food. You gently nurtured me till I grew.
You never gave up on me. You always led me to turn to you.

Let anger, fear, sorrow and pain subdue.
Let the peace of Christ in me renew.

Let your peace guide me now, in all I decide, and all I do.

Let my desires align to your will, make this true.
It’s what pleases you, Lord, I shall pursue.

To your presence, I will enter into.
And one by one, my blessings, I will review.

By my prayers and through your might.
There is not a single thing in me, that won’t be made right!

I love you Lord, and I know you love me too.
You have paid my debt that was overdue.
You have molded me slowly into someone new!

Remind Me

Restless soul, restless mind, that is how I am without your touch.
Yes, I long for your presence Lord, so much.

Remind me that I can place my troubles in your care.
Yes, I can place them all, not just a few, but will I dare?

Remind me that I can trust you completely, and not just in part.
Yes, I can place in your hands, the full care of my heart.

Remind me that you can restore me and give me a whole new life.
Yes, thankfully your word cuts to the depths of my soul just like a knife.

Remind me that I can rely on you knowing all my desires.
Yes, I can rely on your love for me, which is endless, and never expires.

Remind me that I can always come to you, and that I am never alone.
Yes, thankfully the veil was torn and I have direct access to your throne.

Remind me that you stand steadfast at my side.
Yes, I can be fully confident, because it is in you that I confide.

Remind me that you forgive my sins, embrace me now, and strengthen me.
Yes, help me honor, serve, obey and seek only thee.

Remind me of my permanent home in heaven, built by your hand.
Yes, my life is meaningful, when I obey, what you for me have planed.

Please, Lord, open the ears and eyes of my heart.
Allow them to hear and see your will, and never from your plan depart.

Lord, thanks for reminding us constantly of your love!

YOU

It’s You I want to be with.

It’s You I strive to be like.

It’s You I live to glorify.

It’s You I wish to hear.

It’s You I desire to see.

It’s You I long to live for.

It’s You I choose to follow.

It’s You I dare commit to.

It’s You I decide to love.

Humbled and honored I raise my hands to You.
How sweet it is to rely on You.

Stripped bare and naked, I come to You.
Lord, I don’t want anything, if I can’t have You.

Glorious Touch

Lord, I bring my son Daniel before you this morning.

I place him carefully at the foot of your throne.
I ask you Lord to call to him in an audible tone.

Oh father God, please hear my plea.
Don’t let Daniel ever from your presence flee.

Draw him close.
That he may feel your presence, wherever he goes.

Spread your wings over him, and cover him with your protection.
Remind him of your victory and resurrection.

Allow his love for you to increase.
Fill his heart Lord to the rim with your peace.

Whisper, oh so softly, in his ear.
Tell him when the two of you are near there is not a single thing to fear.

Show him father that you love him so much.
Let him feel your glorious touch.

Ana Cecilia Petersen

Thank you Lord for your love and protection!

This is for you Daniel, with all my love and affection.
